Dance

Whether you have a student just beginning their dance journey, one who is ready to expand their skills or one who wants to build confidence for upcoming auditions, dance lessons at the Music/Arts Institute will help your student grow and learn. We also offer private lessons — both for young learners wanting to continue their growth and for adults who have a specific interest, such as ballroom dancing for couples, or who just want to dance.

Our group classes include 28 total lessons over the academic year, plus one recital and one winter showcase. Costumes and recital fees are included in pricing.

Introduction to Dance

Ages 4-7 (Pre-K through first grade)

This class is a fun and playful introduction to dance fundamentals with a focus on bodily awareness, balance and rhythm. Students will learn through games and other creative activities as they are introduced to basic dance positions and movements drawn from ballet, jazz and modern dance, all with a focus on fun.

Ballet

Ballet 1

Ages 7-11 (Second through fifth grades)
or Middle and High School

This class will ensure a solid ballet foundation as students begin their study into ballet. Students will develop a sense of rhythm, musicality and movement and build confidence and discipline in a structured yet fun environment.

The class for older students will feature the same objectives but at a more focused pace.

Ballet 2

All Ages

This class is for the more experienced dancer as they continue their ballet training. The class builds on the basics learned in Ballet 1 and introduces more complex movements and combinations, with an increased focus on technique, strength and artistic expression.

Jazz and Musical Theater

Jazz 1

Ages 7-11 (Second through fifth grades)

Dancers will learn the dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. Jazz is a wonderful class to get a well rounded variety of all dance steps. The class will include strength, flexibility and conditioning techniques and progressions including turns, kicks and leaps as students build creativity and self-expression and prepare for more advanced jazz levels.

Jazz Technique and Musical Theater 1

Middle and High School

This class is for older students who wish to separate themselves from the competition with additional preparation for dance, color guard or theater auditions. Students will learn how to move their body, recall choreography and feel their most confident for future auditions and performances.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available for students to focus on specific techniques or just to elevate their skills. They’re also great to keep your student caught up if they needs to miss a few of their regular classes.

We also offer lessons for adults who want to increase their own skills or who have a specific event in mind, such as ballroom dancing for an upcoming wedding.
