Christina Ray, mezzo soprano is finally home in Kansas City with her husband Tenor, Jonathan Ray. Christina is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance at University of Missouri-Kansas City with Dr. Aidan Soder.
She will make her debut with UMKC Opera as Hänsel the fall production of Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel. Mrs. Ray returns to the Midwest after living in Baton Rouge, LA where she completed a Master of Music in Vocal Performance with Dr. Lori Bade at Louisiana State University. Along with an extensive performance background, Mrs. Ray has maintained a highly successful private voice studio of students of all ages and levels. Students of Mrs. Ray have gone to pursue degrees in Vocal Performance at top music schools in the nation, placed in NATS competitions, and been accepted to prestigious summer opera programs.
Mrs. Ray’s research interests include training young voices, developing shame resistance in the private voice studio, and discovering critical kinesthetic awareness to inform healthy vocal technique. Mrs. Ray also holds a Bachelor of Music from University of Missouri, where she studied under Ann Harrell.
