MAI Programs
Studio Recitals should be performed by the student at least twice each year, in addition to Festival MAI (see calendar for dates). Studio recital dates are set by the teacher.
Honors Recitals are performed twice each year (in the Fall and Spring) by students who demonstrate exceptional talent, ability, motivation and progress. Students will be nominated by their teacher for the Fall Honors Recital; Festival MAI judges will nominate students for the Spring Honors Recital. Check MAI calendar for dates.
Faculty Showcase Recitals are held throughout the year. This gives our teachers the opportunity to perform beautiful music, and set a performance example for their students. Note that all students receiving Scholarships and/or financial aid from MAI are REQUIRED to attend all recitals to maintain their scholarship status. Check MAI calendar for dates.
Festival MAI is a time for every student to perform memorized music for a non-MAI affiliated judge and receive written comments and optional ratings. Students are assigned a 7 minute time slot on all Festivals. Judges comments are reviewed by the Division Chairs and returned to the teachers for discussion with the student. Check MAI calendar for date).
Pre-Contest Festival is a special festival held for high school students who will be competing at District Music Contest. This festival follows the same format as Festival MAI.
Student Evaluation/Parent Conference Weeks are held twice each year. Your instructor will make a point to visit with you (and your parents) about your progress. Written Student Evaluation Forms—found in the student handbook—should be used by teachers to record progress. Parents are asked to attend lessons with students during these weeks.
