Andrew Holmes - Violin & Viola

Andrew Holmes strives to be a well-rounded musician.  Although his primary emphasis is on violin and viola, he also composes and teaches music, actively studies music theory, builds violins, and tinkers on piano and trumpet.  He is also actively involved in several chamber ensembles and orchestras.
In his high school years, Andrew performed with many different orchestras, including the Kansas City Youth Symphony, the Independence Symphony, the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the National Festival Orchestra.  He was also a featured soloist with the Kansas City Youth Symphony, the Independence Symphony, and the Salina Symphony.  His senior year, he was the strings division winner for the international Yamaha Young Artists Competition.

In 2007, Andrew graduated from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University with a Bachelor of Music degree, and was inducted into the Franklin Honors Society with a GPA of 3.95.  Highlights of his time in Chicago include his membership in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and his senior recital, for which he performed all of Paganini’s 24 Caprices for Solo Violin.  Andrew is now pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
