James Gamble - Piano
James
Gamble began his music training at the age of seven when his father gave
him his first piano lessons. Before long, a new and better teacher was
needed, and the search ended at Music/Arts Institute®. For 6 years, Jim
studied piano under Dr. Wayne Smith and also cello under Dan Mays and
Ho Anthony Ahn. He then focused on piano under Iris Logeman until he moved
on to the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he studied piano under
Professors Robert Weirich and John McIntyre. Jim also had the privilege
of working with Stanislav Ioudenitch, a fellow student under Robert Weirich
at UMKC, and the winner of the latest Van Cliburn International Piano
Competition. His latest study in music has also been at UMKC under Carter
Enyeart, who is the Professor of cello.
Jim has competed in many competitions in the Midwest as well as other areas in the country. One of these local competitions, in which he won first place, was the Independence Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition. This gave him his first solo appearance with the Independence Symphony performing Beethoven’s third piano concerto.
Jim is currently in his fifth year at Music/Arts where he is a faculty piano instructor, and he works with the YoungMAIstersingers as their piano accompanist. He also teaches for the Metropolitan Community Colleges, and performs regularly as a soloist and accompanist throughout the Metro area.
In his spare time, Jim owns and operates Centerplace Lawn & Garden Service. You may reach him by calling Music/Arts Institute®, or via email at gamblejs@sbcglobal.net
