CrossPulse
Ethnic Drum Ensemble
You are invited to experience the fascinating percussion
traditions from all parts of the globe. Our ensemble is
a terrific way to learn more about percussion, whether you
have drummed for years or are just beginning. Every culture
throughout the world has used percussion as the backbone
of its music. We will explore these traditional drumming
styles and learn about the instruments, the culture, and
how music is used to unite all.
Our group will focus on many areas of world percussion including:
- West and South African Djembe
- North African and Middle Eastern Hand Drumming
- Celtic Drumming
- South Pacific Islands
- Latin American Drumming
Previous experience in NOT needed! If you've ever wanted to play drums,
this is your opportunity. The instruments needed for class are reasonably
priced (approx. $50), and everyone can and will achieve success in this
program. Classes are friendly and open, and much of the learning takes place
without printed music (the way most of the world learns music). So come
and join the CrossPulse Ethnic Drum Ensemble at Music/Arts and encounter
a new world of rhythm and music.
The CrossPulse Ensemble is led by Jon-Marc Donald, MAI®
Percussion
Area Head.
